BCB Forms Independent Committee to Receive Sexual Harassment and Abuse Complaints from Female Cricketers

Florida.USA.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formed an independent committee to receive complaints of sexual harassment and abuse involving female cricketers. The five-member committee will be headed by Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Rashna Imam.

To ensure that internal influence or conflicts of interest do not affect the handling and investigation of complaints, the BCB has decided not to include anyone directly associated with the board on the committee.
The other members are Barrister Nazia Kabir, Barrister Anita Ghazi Rahman and Zarin Mahmud Hossain. A former cricketer will also join the committee, although her name has not yet been finalised.

Rashna Imam was a member of the convening committee led by Tamim Iqbal ahead of the BCB’s most recent election. At the time, she was also responsible for the women’s wing.
In November 2025, former national women’s team captain Jahanara Alam accused team selector and manager Manjurul Islam of sexual harassment. Following her allegations, the BCB launched an investigation. Later, several other cricketers and individuals associated with the team also came forward publicly with accounts of their experiences.
