Raiyan Abdul Baten was arrested on October 28 in Hillsborough County, Florida, by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, in connection with allegations involving sexual acts with animals. According to the U.S. arrest information database TampaBayBusts, he was taken into custody on these allegations.
Baten reportedly studied at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He is an assistant professor of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Computer Science at the University of South Florida (USF).
According to the investigative affidavit, an investigator prepared a search warrant on October 5, 2026, for a Dropbox account associated with the email address [email protected]. The account was registered under the screen name “Raiyan Abdul Baten” and had the ESP User ID 49034115. The warrant was reviewed and signed by Judge Leslie Schultz-Kin and subsequently served through Dropbox’s online portal.
On October 15, 2026, Dropbox responded to the search warrant by providing six ZIP folders containing a total of 384 GB of data. Investigators analyzed the files using Axiom software.
On October 22, 2026, the investigator reviewed the data obtained from Dropbox and reported discovering 13 files related to bestiality, or sexual activity involving animals. One of the files was a 28-minute video compilation that allegedly showed multiple women engaging in sexual acts with dogs. According to the affidavit, the material violated Florida state law.
Investigators also reportedly found thousands of files containing adult pornography on Baten’s laptop.
During questioning after being advised of his Miranda rights, Baten reportedly acknowledged that the Dropbox account belonged to him. He stated that he had downloaded the file involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM) accidentally, but had intentionally downloaded the videos involving sexual acts with animals.
When shown screenshots from two videos, Baten reportedly identified them as his own. He also allegedly stated that he had a sexual interest in bestiality.
